There is a major Friyay celebration going on over here. What an amazingly full week; it started out in Vegas, celebrating with old friends and new, attending The Las Vegas Market, returning home vibrating with inspiration to days full of client meetings and exciting prospective projects. The perfect week really. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready to kick up my feet and relax tonight. Naturally I have the perfect cocktail in mind for said feet up relaxation: a Bourbon Thyme Cocktail, a thyme infused take on the classic old fashioned. Herbaceous and sweetened with honey instead of refined sugar (something I’m working on limiting this year), it’s perfect for a winter evening cozied up at home. Enjoy!
Cold and cloudy nights call for bourbon and books. While I haven’t gotten to the point where I enjoy sipping bourbon on it’s own, I’m feeling quite good about enjoying bourbon in cocktails.
And I absolutely love Tim Federle’s book Tequila Mockingbird. He’s creatively taken literary classics and twisted them into the perfect accompanying cocktail, the book is as fun to read as the cocktails are to sip!
I have always loved the idea of an Old Fashioned, there is something understatedly sophisticated about it. And I especially admire women who drink them! They are far to strong a drink for me, so I was thrilled to come across this take on the Old Fashioned by The Little Epicurean. A fruitier, mellower drink, perfect for the holidays and entertaining!
The process may seem involved, but it’s worth the work and the Simple Syrup and Brandied Cranberries will keep for weeks.
