Here it is! New Years Eve! Another year has come to an end! And what a year it has been! Full, full, full! Which is probably why I was so craving a quiet, NYE at home 🙂
Do you take time to reflect on the past year? A beautiful friend of mine writes a letter to herself at the start of each year and then opens it on New Years Day, it’s how she check in on the hopes and dreams she had for the coming year, what she experienced, learned and perhaps neglected. I love this idea so much! While I haven’t adopted it yet, (perhaps this year) I always like to take some time in and around New Years Eve to reflect on the year past and what I want to create in the year ahead.
This past year was a biggie. I did something many might call crazy. Something I have dreamt and wondered about since I was a little girl – becoming an interior decorator. I leapt; with no training, know how or idea of where or how I might land; toward something I yearned to do, something I thought I may be good at and that might fill my soul in a more meaningful and energizing way.
While the leap was tougher than I had imagined, more challenging and frustrating than I thought it would be. It was also more beautiful, creative and soul filling than I could have imagined. I was blessed to become a part of an incredible team and work with some of the most talented and generous souls. So. Totally. Grateful.
And this beautiful space, Patterns and Prosecco, became so much more honest and creative. Thank you all for joining me on this journey. I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings!
No matter what this year brought – joy, pain, challenges, inspiration or love, New Years Eve allows us the chance to release it, close the book on 2015 and prepare for 2016 with hope, lessons learned and new awareness.
A New Year is the ultimate fresh start and for me a sacred time to reflect on what I want to let go of from the old year and what I want to welcome into the new year. So each year, I take some time to write these down, pen to paper, and then release them by burning them. In the process setting myself free and opening up wide to what is to come. Silly? Perhaps. Powerful? Definitely. I figure, the very fact that I get a new year, with no mistakes yet, no disappointment or failures yet, is worthy of a celebration and ceremony!
However you choose to ring in the New Year, I wish you a year full of joy, inspiration and leaps of faith!
xx
