A couple of months ago I had my two bedroom condo painted. To do so, I had to pack up a large part of it and find somewhere to store it. Since most of my closets were stuffed and even my storage room downstairs had barely enough room to step into it, this proved to be a challenge. I even considered using something like this Cheap Storage Sydney facility to keep all my furniture and possessions safe. Leading up to the painting, I had envisioned employing Marie Kondo’s techniques from The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing. Somehow that didn’t happen. Instead I was left to pack, stuff and cram my things into any nook and cranny I could find. I’m passionate about many things – living our best, inspired lives; family; community; travel; empowering women; and creativity. The last two in particular fuel and motivate me – this blog was born out of my passion and desire for creativity. And my work and support of various organizations here in Canada and India help to empower women around the world.
So when the opportunity to support an event that nurtures creativity while empowering women arose, I just had to be a part of it.
Mine began in a beautiful small town in Northern Alberta, called Fort McMurray. A town that drew people from all over the world to set roots and achieve their dreams.
Much as been written about Fort McMurray over the years, knows for it’s oil riches. But what those of us who have spent any significant amount of time there know, is what an incredible sense of community and connection it fostered. Which is why the devastation of this wild fire is especially difficult to bear.
It has been many years since I’ve lived in Fort McMurray, but it will always be home. And today, that home is hurting. My community is suffering.
Fort McMurray may be my home, but it is Canada’s city. Offering so much hope, growth and prosperity for all of us.
