Apple Pie

Is there anything better than a warm slice of apple pie on a cool winters day?  And a homemade pie at that!  Nope. I didn’t think so!

In honor of National Pie Day, I thought I would make Apple Pie – for the first time ever!  I know, how is that possible?!  With all the baking I do, I’m not sure how I’ve never made an apple pie.  Perhaps, I had a sense of the patience and time it required and just never felt confident enough to tackle it.

Despite the lack of an incredible wave of confidence, I felt inspired to whip up an apple pie this morning, so I went with it.

Cinnamon Bun Pull-Apart Loaf

As Miranda the creator of this recipe says, I’ve never met a cinnamon bun I didn’t like – except maybe one with pecans (I’m allergic).

If you’ve followed me for any amount of time, you’ll know that Sunday’s for me are best spent baking, and cinnamon buns are one of my favorites.  Is there anything more comforting and exciting than the smell of freshly baked cinnamon buns?  I didn’t think so!  Miranda’s recipe takes the humble cinnamon bun and elevates it to another level.  While I thought I might miss the frosting, usually my favorite part of the bun, trust me you won’t.  These are delicious just as they are.  Ooey, gooey, amazing.

Almond Snowball Cookies

I love simple cookies around the holidays, probably because some of my favorite moments over the holidays are those shared over a cup of chai (traditional Indian tea) with my family.  So a cookie that pairs well with chai, or coffee is always a winner.
