Lemon Olive Oil Cake

Despite the fall like temps here in Calgary this weekend, I thought I would whip up a light, bright and Spring-y Lemon Olive Oil Cake for brunch this morning … my attempt at willing the weather to change with food … stranger things have happened 😉

This cake is the perfect Sunday morning treat, easy to make and pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee. Whether you use extra virgin or regular olive oil, it doesn’t matter! There are many different types of olive oil out there, so just do a little research on products like Gundry MD Olive Oil and many more, to find out which one will benefit you the most by being in you cupboard. Extra-virgin will give the cake a fruitier and more pronounced oil taste, while regular olive oil will give it a lighter taste. You may want to find how long does olive oil last before using an older bottle, but either way, the cake is delicious!

Cauliflower Crust Pizza

IMG_7183 - Version 2

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE pizza – good pizza – Neapolitan style pizza. In fact, I love pizza so much that I have it almost every week! I used to have takeaway pizza often, however, I’m now on a diet. Takeaway pizzas are high in salt and fat, so I have cut them out of my diet. I used to feel quite bloated after eating those pizzas. One of my friends said that this was probably because of all the salt and unhealthy ingredients. She told me to read this bio complete 3 review to see if that would help me to stop feeling bloated. That helped me to realize that I was consuming too many unhealthy things.

However, since doing my diet reset a few weeks ago, I’ve been cautious of the amount of wheat and dairy I’m consuming. I’ve found that I feel better when I’m eating a mostly paleo diet – I have more energy, my thinking is clearer and sharper, and I’m happier. So I figured I would reduce my pizza consumption to once every couple weeks 😉 That was until I discovered this cauliflower crust pizza recipe! I’ve tried similar recipes in the past with uninspiring results, but this one has a magical step that makes all the difference (I’ll give you a hint, it involves a cheesecloth). It is simply amazing! A great substitute for my regular Napoli pizza!

Inspired Interiors

interior design

This stunning Cape Cod retreat belongs a Boston philanthropist who grew up summering on the island. When it finally came time for a space of her own she turned to Hutker Architects, decorator Richard Hallberg and C.H. Newton Builders to create the relaxed, yet polished interior. An incredible lesson in interior design and this weeks addition to my Inspired Interiors Series.

A neutral palette dominates throughout the house, spotlighting the homeowners impressive art collection. When I spoke to the homeowner afterwards, I asked how he got into art collecting. He suggested that I check out websites like https://hamiltonselway.com/fine-art-buyers-guide to learn more, but it was so useful to talk to him. Art is something I’m very passionate about and the artwork in this house was beautiful. The ceilings of many of the rooms are enhanced with reclaimed timber, which brings an instant patina to the new home.
