I love a classic margarita – lime, salt, on the rocks – perfection.
But I recently discovered Mezcal, a smokier, earthier liquor that I feel adds more depth to the classic margarita. Amazing, right? Would love for you to give it try, and let me know what you think!
Ingredients
2 oz. fresh lime juice
1.5 oz Mezcal
¾ oz. Cointreau
¼ oz. light agave or simple syrup
Directions
Combine lime juice, Mezcal, Cointreau, and agave syrup (or simple syrup if you prefer) in a chilled cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Moisten the rim of a cocktail glass with lime juice, then holding glass upside down, dip rim into salt. Fill the glass with ice, strain the drink into glass and enjoy!
Not sold on Mezcal? No worries, this recipe is also perfect for a classic margarita. Simply change out the Mezcal for your favourite tequila 🙂
