If you’ve followed along for a while, you’ll know that I love the warmth and grounding wood adds to a space. In recent years the trend was towards washed out stains that always fell a bit flat for me. I’m excited to see a return to gorgeous medium-toned woods, that ooze depth and character. I’ve rounded up some of my favourite inspiration below.
If you’ve been here a while you’ll know my love of giving new life to previously loved, well lived in spaces. This weeks Inspired Interiors feature is just that. Built in 1899, this historic home is located in Hastings-on-Hudson—a quaint town along New York’s Hudson River. Designer Becca Casey of Becca Interiors chose to celebrate the history of the home by keeping its original integrity while implementing cosmetic changes and a fresh palette. Paint, texture, and modern accents create the perfect balance.
Over the last year as our world has stopped, shifted, and tried to get back to some semblance of normal, I’ve used the power of ritual to help me navigate the uncertainty. Simple things like creating time and space to journal in the morning, lighting a candle in my office at the start of the day, and an afternoon walk, have helped create intention and routine in my days.
