They say you never forget your first … I remember it vividly, we had just arrived into Brazil from Argentina and were weary, hungry and thirsty. Eagerly we each ordered Brazil’s national drink, a Caipirinha. The bartender warned us to ease into the drink … huh? Ease into it? One sip and I knew exactly what he meant! The burn is something I will never forget! I also vaguely remember vowing never to have another! Funny thing though … they start to grow on you 😉
There is so much to be excited about in the Summer months – longer days, warmer temps, and fresh produce – in particular blueberries, hands down my favorite berry! So it’s no wonder the abundance of fresh, delicious BC Blueberries at this time of year, has me completely tickled! For me blueberries have the perfect sweetness and texture – no seeds to deal with or furry, bumpy surfaces. Like most berries, they are incredibly versatile, from sweet to savory and everything in between. But you know me, I tend to lean towards the sweet, so this Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Cake was perfect.
I’ve shared before how my love of lemon as grown over the years, lemon in water, lemon desserts and lemony Friday night sips like lemon drops, limoncello, and now this Lavender Lemon Martini.
I knew the moment I took a cutting from my parents lavender bush, I wanted to use it in a cocktail. A simple lavender infused syrup pairs perfectly with a tart lemonade. Refreshing and with only three ingredients, so easy to make. Be warned though, these go down really easy – perfect for a long weekend 😉 Happy Friday Friends!
