You’ll often hear design is in the details. And if you’ve ever renovated you’ll know that there is no shortage of details to consider. One such detail that is often overlooked and doesn’t receive nearly the attention it deserves is lighting. But in fact, it’s lighting that highlights a design, creates the mood and often determines how a space is used.

Lighting and in particular layered lighting, is where the magic lies.  Intentionally layering lighting creates depth, warmth, and versatility in a home. It’s the secret sauce that takes a room from flat and one-dimensional to rich and storied.

IMG_4475 There is no question brass is having a moment. If you had asked me a few years ago if I would ever consider adding brass to a space I was designing, I would have a balked. Today, it’s no longer just about these lovely photo moon lamp gifts that people are placing all over their home, it’s now even becoming hard not to add a brass element to every space I’m working on. My favorite of the brass revival is brass lighting. I just can’t get enough, from my own space to those of my clients, I’m dying to use it. Brass can be used for a variety of other projects, however.
