Whether you’re a fan of her movies like me or not, I’m willing to bet you’ve at least thought to yourself how great it would be to live in one of the homes featured in Nancy Meyer’s films. They are the epitome of effortless style. None more iconic that Erica Barry’s home in Something’s Gotta Give.
Coastal Grandma, the name given to this aesthetic by Tiktok influencer Lex Nicoleta has taken the internet by storm. While the homes featured in Meyer’s films like It’s Complicated and The Holiday, have a timeless appeal. I think everyone’s talking about the style because it embodies what we’re all craving after the last few years. Relaxation, free time, long lunches paired with cold glasses of wine, and simple luxuries like a cashmere sweater at a beach picnic. So chic!
While we all work towards that lifestyle 😉 , here’s how to bring the look into your home. The aesthetic is rooted in classic, traditional pieces. Neutral tones and lots of texture. Think antiques, grasscloth, linen, jute, wool rugs and soft prints. It’s about comfortable spaces that feel lived in, not precious. And most importantly, timeless. Something’s Gotta Give was made in 2003, and nearly 20 years later the aesthetic is more popular than ever. If that’s not great design, I’m not sure what is! Do you have a favourite house?
