In world that seems to be obsessed with faster, better, more. I find myself craving slower, quieter and less. Less hustle, more presence. Choosing longevity and depth over quick and easy. As is so often the case, my yearnings in life are filtering into design. Choosing work that honors craft, classic materials and timeless style. Nothing embodies this more to me than marble.
If you’re anything like me, you devoured Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix. Based on the book by Sarah Vaughan, the psychological thriller tells the story Sophie (Sienna Miller), the attractive albeit long-suffering wife of James Whitehouse (Rupert Friend), an ambitious Tory MP in the British government. While the story itself is predictable, the stunning interiors, Sienna Miller’s impossibly chic style and my love of Rupert Friend, had me captivated.
If you’ve followed along for a while, you’ll know that I love the warmth and grounding wood adds to a space. In recent years the trend was towards washed out stains that always fell a bit flat for me. I’m excited to see a return to gorgeous medium-toned woods, that ooze depth and character.
