As days become shorter and temperatures cool, I’m settling into warm and cozy vibes in both my clothing and home decor. While I hate to see summer go, I absolutely love this time of year, I love everything about layering, staying in and pumpkin spice 😉 So pour yourself a cup of something warm, cuddle up with a throw and enjoy this round up of fall decor I’m loving.

Since layering is such a prominent part of Fall, I love the look of layering rugs, why it’s taken so long for us to think of this, I don’t know! Immediately layering allows you add texture, depth and abundance to a space. And best of all, it allows you to use a rug that you love, but may have been too small for a space. I prefer to use a neutral rug as the base, jute is especially great. Then layer something on top with interest and colour, my heart is earning for subtle and neutral tones at the moment so this distressed Arabesque rug is right up my alley. But a colourful Persian or Kilim would look amazing too. I personally prefer something woolly and textured because on the time of year – it just adds to that cosiness that is so important in Fall as we move towards the cold and dark winter nights. Especially against a beautiful stone floor like those found at https://www.pavingandflooring.com/. There is a variety of options when it comes to wool rugs so everybody should be able to find something they like. A simple search for ‘wool rugs melbourne‘ will bring up a popular company with a whole host of options.

Curved furniture is definitely having a moment. Rounded edges allow a space to flow, while adding softness. Combine that with the retro feel of rattan and the whimsy of a hanging chair and you have my next love, the hanging chair from Serena and Lilly. Seriously you guys, how amazing is this chair! I desperately want to install one in my bedroom! Speaking of my bedroom, there are a few changes I want to make to it. I’ve been thinking about getting a new dressing table and even a new mattress from a company like Simba. These are only ideas at the minute but my bedroom is in desperate need of some TLC!

My next favorite combines three classics – marble, wallpaper and Kate Spade – all three are hotter than ever. I use wallpaper in almost every space I design and marble has become much more accessible for surfaces and flooring, but also in accessories. Kate Spade has just recently launched a fabric and wall-covering line, which includes this amazing marble swirl wallpaper. Decorating the walls can be the best way to update a room as it doesn’t take up precious surface space and is most impactful as it is usually the first thing the eye is drawn to when you walk in a room. You could Create your own canvas print with your favorite photos inspired by the seasons like a beach picture and switch them out with the seasons so that your space gets updated throughout the year and you won’t get bored of it.

Sheepskin rugs and throws have been hot for few season now, but this year I’m switching things up with Mongolian lamb fur, a longer fiber and way more fun than boring sheepskin, I just love it for pillows and especially in this stool. Stools, like trays are a decor essential for me because they offer versatility – they offer a place to rest your feet, perch a cup of coffee or extra seating when required. And the whimsy of this stool is givin’ me all the feels.

Nothing says fall like cozying up under a throw or blanket. I’m absolutely loving Turkish blankets at the moment, surprisingly warm without being bulky and available in a plethora of colours and designs, they instantly add texture and thoughtfulness to space.

I don’t think there is a more quintessentially warm and cozy pattern than plaid, it’s everywhere in clothing and now home decor. A black and white check is subtle, while still being rustic and cozy.

My last fav is a bit surprising for me – pottery. I’m officially feeling old. Joking aside, there is something about pottery that brings up feelings of warmth and hominess, which I associate with fall. So there you have it, I’m loving pottery at the moment, in particular white pottery, displayed on shelves or on the wall, I simply cannot get enough.
